Sole and the Skyrider Band myspace
Though Sole had spent most of his career working with celebrated producers—primarily Alias, Odd Nosdam (of cLOUDDEAD), and JEL (of subtle)—by 2005 he had for some time been looking for a working relationship with a more exclusively focused yet also uniquely talented group of musicians. His solo instrumental work, released in 2005 on Morr Music and in 2007 on anticon as mansbestfriend, and his yearlong collaboration with half of Barcelona's Tortoise-like improvational outfit Twelve were aspects of this search. On tour with Dosh, Pedestrian, and Telephone Jim Jesus in 2005, fate landed the caravan at the tropical home of Bud Berning, an electronic musician and dub drummer then recording solo work as Skyrider. Intrigued by Skyrider's sound, Sole later returned to Orlando on a short tour of the Southeast and collaborated with Berning and two musicians who had recently joined the Skyrider fold. Not naturally attracted to music born of machines, Bud had only begun tinkering with computers while immobilized after a coma resulting from a traumatic collision in Mexico City in 2002. The two instrumentalists Berning recruited, Tennessee native John Wagner and omni-instrumentalist William Ryan Fritch, not only fleshed out Berning's sample-based ideas, but also added their own distinct musical voices. As Sole and Skyrider played, sparks struck, and Sole had the quickness of mind to immediately invite Skyrider to move to Flagstaff and record an album.

How can anyone who listens to Hip-Hop not know who the diggity Das Efx was. They created the stiggity style that many other artists have converted to make their iggity own (eg. snoops "izzle" style). As perfect a dream-team the Hitsquad/Def Squad (Redman, EPMD, DasEfx, Keith Murray, etc.) had, it would seem the beef between E and PMD limited many of the collaborations. It is a shame, because in my honest opinion, they could've lit it up to the levels of Wu-Tang had they been able to organize and focus better as a mega-group. In the absence of Das Efx, our boy Dray has dropped his own solo venture. This didnt get ANY exposure and is only available in a few places online (cdbaby and soundclick). Its got some real dope tracks and its got some lame ducks. Give it a listen, support the brother if you can. I would love to see Def Squad record another CD and add some Efx and you would have my eager anticipation. This was well worth the listen.

In 2004, former Battle-Axe recording artist, Mr. Brady, along with Johaz, Brea, and DJ Artistic came together to form the group Deep Rooted. The group was formed with a bigger perspective in mind - Originality and Making good music for the world to feel.
Deep Rooted has more then earned their place as one of California's top unsigned rap/soul groups. They’re not only known for providing good music, but for their extremely live high energy shows which include the Urban Dynamics dancers, ceSee and Boosie. Within their first year as a group, Deep Rooted went home in 2005 & in 2006 with a San Diego Music Award for Best hip-hop album, for their acclaimed "A New Beginning", as well as their sophmore album “The Second Coming”.They not only were nominated for best hip-hop album, but for best group as well. Deep Rooted has been a part of multiple tours such as Vans Warped Tour in 2004, 2005, the Keep The Feel Tour, The Southern Comfort Music Festival and more. Attending three consecutive Urban Network Conferences, Deep Rooted took home the award for Best Performance, scoring a ten of ten from all judges, the only act ever to do so!
From the get-go this collaboration between Washington D.C. based beat manipulator Sharkey and New York City microphone maniac C-Rayz Walz is nothing short of incendiary. Bursting with over-the-top electro-shock sonic therapy the album kicks down the doors on anybody's misconceptions that modern day rap revolves solely around mainstream pop sell-out theatrics. Delivering a well balanced blend of soulful rumination and old New School-styled hardcore bombast, Sharkey and C-Rayz show and prove immaculately.

10 years in the making, "The Release Party" is an absolute must have for any fan of Dilated or the Hip-Hop fan deeply interested in the history of west coast Hip-Hop. The DVD is a trip through the history of Dilated Peoples, covering such important topics as Evidence meeting Rakka and their deep relationship, the story of Babu becoming a full-time member of the group and the evolution of the Dilated sound. The strongest moments of the DVD lie in the much publicised story of Dilated Peoples and their major label turn with Capitol Records. Evidence and crew give a raw look at major label politics, including Capitol's eagerness to promote the Kanye West assisted "This Way" while ignoring the actual push of the album it appeared on. Evidence tells a very real story of a pre-fame West coming out to L.A. and the early glimpses into what would become the phenom known as Kanye West.
Also included in the DVD package are a bonus CD of new material, all of Dilated Peoples music videos, an excellent short film called "Peoples Dilated" and more.

Spazmatic’s current contribution to Hip Hop is his Independent release called, “Pieces 2 the Puzzle.” Although he is still in the early stages of spreading the word about P2TP, Spaz is already working on his second album. “H. Fraud (who produced Pieces 2 the Puzzle) and I are already working on the second album,” says the intelligent lyricist. “H. Fraud is my homeboy for life. We grew up on alot of the same music, and that's why we compliment eachothers styles so perfectly."

Influenced by a diverse range of artists from Nas to Jay-Z to KRS-One, Loj makes genuine music that the average person can relate to. When listening to his catalog as a whole, it's difficult to put a label on the type of music he makes. He describes his music as “catchy, yet conscious music”. Dubbed as the “Concept Kid” and never wanting to "pigeon-hole" his thoughts or his artwork, Loj rhymes upon a broad range of topics that affect himself, his people, and the world everyday. His music addresses diverse issues such as hip-hop culture, politics, life's pleasures and achievements, women, socio-economics, entertainment, work, school, and the realities that average people go through everyday. Critics and fans alike praise Loj for bringing balance back to music during a time where hip-hop seems stagnant with repetitive material.
